SEOUL, Aug. 29 (Yonhap) -- The chief executive of South Korean kids content brand The Pinkfong Company, which created the globally popular "Baby Shark" video, has said the company will expand the video's storyline by showing off the shark family's younger sibling and friends.
Kim Min-seok, chief executive of the Pinkfong Company, told Yonhap News Agency in an interview Saturday that the company plans to let children enjoy "Baby Shark" in various fields, including animation, movie and performance.
"Over the past ten years or so, we have maintained the 'Baby Shark' family with mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather," Kim said.
"During the first half of next year, a younger sibling and friends of 'Baby Shark' will be unveiled, and the story will be expanded along with them," Kim said.
"Baby Shark," known for its catchy refrain, is a children's song beloved by young audiences worldwide for its simple melody and easy-to-follow chorus.

A video based on the song, "Baby Shark Dance," has amassed some 17 billion views on YouTube, maintaining its status as the most-viewed video on the platform globally.
Although the song became a global phenomenon, Kim said the company will continue to make efforts to meet changing needs for storyline and characters.
The Pinkfong Company will "maintain the essential appeal of our intellectual property, but continue to develop characters and content in line with changing times and user preferences," Kim said.
Kim said the company will also unveil new content using artificial intelligence (AI) at the end of this year or early next year.
Kim said AI could serve as a new interface between characters and consumers, beyond the current role of creating content.(END)
